Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness, yoga of the present moment and our presence. It is more than physical practice and activity. I may say that yoga is a way of life. We get to know ourselves through Kundalini Yoga, we cross our boundaries, remove energy obstacles, release suppressed emotions. It is important to know that Kundalini Yoga is practiced with the eyes closed and this specific detail is the reason why I fell in love with it. I remember my first experiences with yoga and with different types of yoga. I must tell you it wasn’t easy. I have practiced basketball for a long time, my body was completely stiff, tendons short… I thought that yoga was not for me. I even compared myself with others thinking how it was possible that others were better than me and
wondering why I couldn’t do it. Soon after I went to a Kundalini Yoga class and since then everything has changed. Whole new world, unknown until then, has opened for me. During that class, I realized for the first time in my life, what it meant to be focused only on myself and to experience being in the present moment. And there is only one way for that, to practice with the eyes closed and listen to your inner self. The essence of Kundalini Yoga means to work in accordance with your possibilities, regardless of your physical state, without competing with anyone, and there is no perfect position. In that way, we learn to accept ourselves just as we are at that moment. But along with that comes the question of responsibility whether we want to try to move the boundaries,
to take some exercise to perfection or we only find excuses.
Who is yoga for?
There are no limits for practicing Kundalini Yoga. Everybody adjusts to his/her feeling and abilities. Its feature is that every lesson has its theme that we deal with and because of that Kundalini Yoga may trigger a lot of emotions, sometimes laughter, but very often tears also. I always choose emotional themes for my classes and we work a lot on liberation and releasing emotions.
Kundalini Yoga is life energy, creative, sexual and inventive energy that lies in all of us. Therefore, we deal with emotions and energy that is inside of us, and we don’t take anything from outside. When we start practicing Kundalini Yoga this is what is reflected in our everyday life.
